Epoxy floor coatings are thin layers of epoxy, spread over a smooth substrate with a squeegee. The coating ranges from 0.2 mm to 0.5 mm in thickness and can be applied quickly and easily. Epoxy coatings are perfect for providing an extra layer of protection to concrete floors. An aggregate such as sand can also be added to create a slip-resistant surface.

Self-levelling epoxy floors are slightly thicker than epoxy coatings, usually ranging from 1 mm to 4 mm in depth. The epoxy can be applied with a notched squeegee or with a roller, but the material primarily smooths itself to create a level surface while it is hardening.

Heavy-duty epoxy mortar is popular in factories and other industrial buildings. These floors are 5 mm to 15 mm in thickness and are applied with trowels. Sand and other aggregates are added to the epoxy to provide increased strength and durability so that forklifts and heavy machinery may be used on the surface without having to worry about wear.
